The Montvale Animal Hospital is a multi-doctor small animal hospital. We provide state of the art care for all of our patients. As a client, you and your pet will receive our individual attention.
Our facility provides:
- full medical, surgical, and dental services
- on-site ultrasound and digital x-rays
- in-house and referral laboratory testing
- laser surgery
- digital dental x-rays
Our anesthesia services include:
- mechanical assisted ventilators
- state of the art monitoring
We offer
24-hour emergency care
for our patients at our hospital, and one of our
veterinarians is always on call.
Our hospital includes a boarding facility, professional
grooming services, an extensive pharmacy, and a full line
of prescription diets.
Our veterinary staff & veterinarians attend continuing
education regularly so that we can stay at the forefront of
veterinary medicine.

From South – Take GSP North to Exit 172 (Last exit in NJ). At the top of the exit ramp make a left hand turn onto Grand Avenue. Go to next traffic light and make a right hand turn onto Chestnut Ridge Rd. Animal Hospital is the third building on the right hand side. It is a red California contemporary with a large parking lot in front.
From Ramsey – Mahwah – Take Lake Street into Montvale where it will turn into Grand Avenue. Take Grand Avenue to Chestnut Ridge Road and make a left hand turn onto Chestnut Ridge Rd. The Animal Hospital is the third building on the right hand side. It is a red California contemporary with a large parking lot in front.
From Saddle River – Ridgewood – HoHoKus – Take Chestnut Ridge Rd. in Saddle River to County Rd. (by Tice’s Mall) and make a left hand turn onto Chestnut Ridge Rd. Go North on Chestnut Ridge Rd about 1 ¼ miles. You will pass the light on Grand Avenue (Commerce Bank & CVS) are on the corner. The Animal Hospital is the third building after the light on the right hand side. It is a red California contemporary with a large parking lot in front.
From the North – If you are taking the NYS Thruway South – get off at the Garden State Pkwy Extension. Take the parkway to Schoolhouse Rd Exit. At the top of the exit ramp make a left hand turn. Go about 1 mile to traffic light . Make a right hand turn onto Summit Avenue. Go about 1 mile to next traffic light (Dairy Queen). Make a left hand turn onto Chestnut Ridge Rd and the Animal Hospital is the third building on the left hand side. It is a red California contemporary with a large parking lot in front.

- What to Expect
- All Animals Must Be Current on Vaccinations
- All Pets Must Be Free From Internal/External Parasites
- We Will Not Board Unspayed Females Over 6 Months Of Age
- Every Pet Must Have A Signed Release Form
- Medication and Diet Policy
- Check In/Out Hours
- We don't board cats during our busiest times.
- Senior/geriatric pets may not do well in our kennel.
Please have all vaccine status faxed to us prior to your boarding. Our policies may vary from other hospitals so we want to make sure your pet's vaccines are current with our policy and your admission is a pleasurable, non-stressful experience.

To insure a flea free environment for your pet, all dogs and cats admitted for well-care will be treated orally with Capstar. It is non-toxic and 100% effective at killing fleas within hours of consumption.

The office closes at Noon on Saturdays so pets MUST be picked up by then.
No Sunday Check In or Check Out - No Exceptions!
Pets must be picked up by Noon on Check Out day or an additional 1/2 day charge will be added.
Medication can be administered to your pet while boarding. Owners should bring any prescibed medication needed for the pet. If needed the hospital can supply it for a fee.
Food is included in the boarding fee, except for prescription
diets, which can be provided at an additional charge. Dry prescription diets are
sold by the bag only. The fee is not reduced if the clients supply their own food.
We recommend that your pet stay on its normal food, so please check to see
if we supply your brand.
- Each pet is kept in a separate cage.
- Cats are kept in cages since they remain quite inactive while boarding and large open spaces tend to upset them.
- Heating or air conditioning is provided as needed.
- State-of-the-art bathing equipment is available to maintain your pet in a clean and fresh condition.
Each dog receives a complimentary bath when boarding for 3 or more nights. - Our canine guests are individually walked and exercised 4 times a day.
Actual pet-to-pet contact is not permitted so that social disagreements (fighting) are not a concern. - Each pet is fed in accordance with its age, weight and temperament.
- A veterinarian is available 7 days a week to attend to your pet should the need arise.
GROOMING INFORMATION
Montvale Animal Hospital is proud to offer expert grooming services David and Robin Huber, our resident groomers, provide all breed pet grooming and medicated bathing.David has been a member of the Montvale Animal Staff for over 20 years. David and Robin, who are known throughout the international grooming community, take part in grooming symposiums, Intergroom, to enhance their knowledge and stay abreast of the latest trends. David was also nominated for the Cardinal Crystal Achievement Award, which is the highest award given out in the grooming industry. David's extensive knowledge of grooming and experience working at the veterinary hospital have allowed him to provide observations to the doctors that have led to earlier detection of medical problems.
We use a complete line of professional grooming products. The professional grooming products we use are also available for purchase to help you keep your pet clean, healthy, and beautiful between groomings.
Nail trims and anal sac expression are routinely done on every grooming and shedding problems are greatly minimized with a power dryer, hydrosurge and shedless treatments.
